About Dr. Ricardo Bellera

Dr. Bellera is a cardiologist who joined the Modern Heart and Vascular group in 2019 after finishing his cardiovascular fellowship training at The University of Texas at McGovern Medical School in Houston. He has extensive training in internal medicine, general cardiology, advanced heart failure, and transplant cardiology, as well as in interventional cardiology and structural heart disease.

Dr. Bellera started his medical education at The University of Carabobo in Venezuela. After earning his medical degree Dr, Bellera came to the United States where he joined The Baylor College of Medicine as a research associate. His research was focused on microvascular thrombosis in sepsis. He subsequently finished his residency in internal medicine at Jacobi Medical Center at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine. After the completion of his residency he worked as an internal medicine and cardiac intensive care specialist at Houston Methodist Hospital for four years.

Dr. Bellera’s areas of interest are non-invasive cardiology including primary prevention and the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. He is also particularly interested in invasive cardiology, including the treatment of complex coronary artery disease, peripheral, arterial, and venous disease.
